Our Pastor

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to visit our church website.

My name is David Stangret, and I am the founding pastor of Bible Believers Baptist Church.

I was not raised in a Christian home, but when I was 15 years old, I was presented the gospel of Jesus Christ by a friend, who had just recently been saved. I was told that I was lost and needed to trust Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour to escape the coming judgement of God upon this world and in eternity for my sins. Later that night, I bowed my head, and repenting of my sins, I asked the Lord Jesus Christ to be my personal Saviour.

I started to attend a Baptist church in my area, and during an altar call; I went forward for baptism. I was later baptised and became a member of that church.

Many years later, I joined an independent Baptist church in Scarborough, and was a member there for over 14 years. While attending this church, I met and married a wonderful Christian lady, Carolyn, and together we have five beautiful children. Our oldest is our only son, and after him came four beautiful girls.

In 2001, the church I was a member of, amalgamated with another Baptist church north of Toronto in a town called Stouffville. This left a real void in the Scarborough area of Toronto for a Bible believing independent Baptist church. For many years the Lord had been working on my heart about serving Him full time in the ministry, and in 2002, I notified my pastor that the Lord had impressed upon me the need to start an independent Baptist church in the Scarborough area of Toronto.

I started mid-week bible studies in the fall of 2002, and eventually we had our first Sunday morning meeting in June of 2003.  My wife and I, our five children and one couple were in attendance at that meeting. Since that first Sunday, our attendance has grown to average over 40 people on Sunday mornings. We are now about to enter our fifth year, I hope that you will consider taking the time to visit with us some Sunday.
